i am a seventeen year old boy on his way back to my father's girlfriend's house
returning from the shop where i bought skittles and an iced tea..
i notice i am being followed by a guy talking into his phone
i evade him... call my girlfriend and say there's a creep following me
the creep shows up again... this time calling me a *ukking *oon and
drawing a gun... i try to repel him but he fells me and my phone drops
he shoots me in the chest
i call for help
i die
witnesses see the shooter straddling over my body before he gets up.. then an ambulance is turned away assessing that the shooter is not hurt badly
after being held up for a day my body is sent to funeral home where it is noticed that there are no marks on my body to show that i had been in a fight
the shooter is not charged with any crime as day after day goes by with no arrest... the shooter had the gun but i am judged to have used deadly force... or even the intent to use deadly force...stand your ground is a "judgement call" so if you're a paranoid racist whackjob with a licensed gun... it is legal to shoot a young black man
stand your ground? if you're a young black man in sanford florida you HAVE no ground to stand.
returning from the shop where i bought skittles and an iced tea..
i notice i am being followed by a guy talking into his phone
i evade him... call my girlfriend and say there's a creep following me
the creep shows up again... this time calling me a *ukking *oon and
drawing a gun... i try to repel him but he fells me and my phone drops
he shoots me in the chest
i call for help

If fortune has granted you a soapbox, use it responsibly.Because Cynthia Nixon, bisexual, does not like the word "bisexual," she fatuously stated in a New York Times interview that she "chooses to be gay," and that no one gets to decide what gay means for her.
Well, we all get to write our own dictionaries... and to rewrite history too. How is this helping? Who won her the rights to marry her partner? Those rights are not yet secured, you nitwit!! You stupid, stupid woman!!

Here we go again:
This chart of villainous Senators needs to be changed!!! (I will get back to this later because this kind of inaccuracy is so dumb it is dangerous.)
But once you get it wrong, and proudly share it all round the web… the horse is out of the barn.
Like the time a woman wrote a gushy review of Bush’s “Decision Points,” filed it on the CNN blog and then called herself a journalist by association. She reviewed Bush’s “novel.” Since it was a memoir, calling it a novel was unintentionally insulting (and accurate!.) She sent this review out to 680 news sources, blogs, BBs. When she was informed of the difference between a novel and a memoir she went round the internet in a panic trying to undo what she had so ambitiously done.
But it can’t be undone. Once’ it’s posted and a link is made it’s there… we’re talking the bookmarking share softwares that are formulas (algorithms again) not people/editors. To go round the web and ask 680 webmasters to change an entry… I mean who could be bothered?
Back to the Senators who voted NO against 2012 National Defense Authorization Act.
PUBLISHED MISINFORMATION HAS NEGATIVE VALUE!!!
Even so far as to be a corrosive agent in a democracy. If the citizens are misinformed… by accident, by sloppiness, or by design, they cannot make the best choices for representation, and cannot tell their representatives where they stand on important issues.
NDAA 2012 is an Extremely important issue.

On the 14th of December, 2011, the House of Representatives of these United States voted in favor of indefinite military detention, without charges, of any American, anywhere, anytime, without due process of law, at the discretion of the government alone.
Final Vote 283-136 Lets start with those members of Congress who voted NO: (Democrats in italic)
The Senate voted Tuesday, December 13. The vote was 86-13. Here are the Senators who voted NO:
Cardin (D-MD)
Coburn (R-OK)
Crapo (R-ID)
DeMint (R-SC)
Durbin (D-IL)
Franken (D-MN)
Harkin (D-IA)
Lee (R-UT)
Merkley (D-OR)
Paul (R-KY)
Risch (R-ID)
Sanders (I-VT)
Wyden (D-OR)
The rest of the blackguards can be found here and here.
How did this happen?
"this appears to be one of those issues that escapes the kind of public attention (read: outrage) it deserves because of a dismaying lack of information and discussion in the mainstream media, as well as some spin on the part of supportive legislators and a sneaky timeline for the voting process: just in time for the holidays!" truthdig.com
Because people couldnt be bothered to read about what was happening and make their voices be heard. Because the media failed to inform them: That as US troops were leaving Iraq, the battleground was moving to the United States.

The bill was drafted in secret:
The US Senate Armed Forces Committee, led by Carl Levin (D-MI) and John McCain (R-AZ), held a secret closed door session to insert ominous new Federal powers into the Defense Authorization Bill. This is the annual bill to fund the US military. These new powers were requested by the Obama administration.
Because people couldnt be bothered to read about what was happening and make their voices be heard. Because the media failed to inform them: That as US troops were leaving Iraq, the battleground was moving to the United States.
“The homeland is part of the battlefield and people can be held without trial whether an American citizen or not,” said Senator Lindsey Graham, a South Carolina Republican, one of the key backers of the new authority.Section 1031 of the NDAA bill, describes the U.S. as a "battlefield" and would give the military a green light to arrest and detain American citizens without any charges or trial.
How did this happen?
1. Facebook Nation does not read or care about these things, only interested in phones and games
2. A little education is dangerous, inside and out of the House and Senate
3. Most members of the 99% are too busy with survival: unemployment, foreclosure, not enough food and not being able to provide for their families at Christmas. At the same time they are living on hope, prayers and good faith, none of which should be applied to government.
4. The bill was rushed through between Thanksgiving and Christmas. This bill has 920 pages!! Do you honestly believe that your Congress and Senate members had time to read and study it? Or that they took the time? This thing was a fait acompli from the start. Obama insisted on it... it was gonna pass.
5. This is the worst of it. These issues were front and center action items with Human Rights Watch, the ACLU and Center for Constitutional Rights during the Bush reign. The fighting Democrats were caught napping during the passage of 2012 NDAA. We thought we had beat back extra-judicial executive powers. We believed Obama when he said he would close down Guantanamo Bay. We believed him when he said:

“We're not a country that runs prisons that locks people away without ever telling them why they're there. Or what they're charged with.”
“We're not a nation that locks people up without charging them."
This bill is insidious: Indefinite military detention, without charges, of any American, anywhere, anytime, without due process of law, at the discretion of the government alone.
"At the discretion of the government alone" describes a MONARCHY!! Leave Nothing to the discretion of the Government!! <<< That's how and why we formed a Democracy 236 years ago!!!

Since the word treason has lost its currency in the US over the last 10 years I will say: This bill is evil: It is presumption of guilt based on suspicion alone. It re-states that, "When the President does it, it's not illegal." Nixon-Bush-Obama. To complain that it's Unconstitutional, at this point, is rather limp. It is the devaluation of the dignity of human life -- suspension of habeas corpus will, in effect, bomb us back to the middle ages.
Obama has betrayed the hope invested in him.
There IS no hope… only eternal vigilance.

The Tyranny of Google News Algorithms -- Shit Rises to the Top

The most popular headline is false:
The true story is in the extended coverage, behind the false story:
But digging a layer deeper into the news is for someone who is genuinely interested in Obama's complete reversal on "enemy combatants" and "infinite detention" and "without trial," suspension of habeas corpus and Bush's AUMF. I don't know who writes headlines... but my impression is these writers are given an article and told by editors to "sex this up." Like when Liz Taylor passed away the headline was, "Paul Newman says Liz was one helluva gal," when Newman had been dead for more than a year.
So the lead headline is the one hit on most often, the false one.
Is Google evil? Or have the humanoids at Google been taken over by their own algorithms?

Hard Drive Performs Surgery On Itself

| EMERAC begins to smoke and spew |
Yesterday it was groaning and heaving loudly,
but still working long enough so I could find this solution. Diagnosis: bad clusters. And then I watched as my computer performed surgery on itself. Now it is eerily silent, but cured. This diagnosis and repair took a coupla hours.
How to run Chkdsk from Windows Explorer
- Double-click My Computer, and then right-click the hard disk that you want to check.
- Click Properties, and then click Tools.
- Under Error-checking, click Check Now. A dialog box that shows the Check disk options is displayed,
- To repair errors, locate bad sectors, and recover readable information, select the Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors check box, and then click Start.
The disk check could not be performed because the disk check utility needs exclusive access to some Windows files on the disk. These files can be accessed by restarting Windows. Do you want to schedule the disk check to occur the next time you restart the computer?Click Yes to schedule the disk check, and then restart your computer to start the disk check.

Crap vs Screw at the Guggenheim

The curator Francesco Bonami, who has written a partly fictional, and biting, unauthorized account of Cattelan’s career, was more circumspect. “At the Guggenheim, the art always has to compete with the building,” he said. “Does the museum win or does the art? We’ll see.” nytblog nov 4 2011
(you'll notice in this installation all the art-defying walls are empty)
A show whose principle emotion is spite also has the the gee-wiz fun of a giant Calder mobile. Cattelan manages the brilliant, paradoxical trick of making “institutional critique,” as such museum-prodding work is known, into a blockbusting crowd pleaser. the daily beast nov 4 2011

oh frabjous joy!!
The 123 works on view at the Guggenheim, dangled from the top of the rotunda, suggest nothing if not a mass suicide by hanging, and for that reason the spectacle is as sad and sobering as it is remarkable.

Has anybody noticed how the United States has been creeping towards and celebrating barbarism?
How it's now official: assasination squads are a good thing. They serve democracy.*
"Brought to justice," means, in the vernacular of the President, shot at home along with members of one's family.
Brought to justice used to mean, even recently, captured and tried before a tribunal. But today it can mean caught like a dog in a sewer, shot in the head and dragged through the streets before being displayed in a meat locker.
It's not just "brought to" that has been changed... "brought to" meaning delivered to 'meet one's maker,' but Justice... the first four definitions are now EXTINCT!
1. the quality of being just; righteousness, equitableness, or moral rightness: to uphold the justice of a cause.
2. rightfulness or lawfulness, as of a claim or title; justness of ground or reason: to complain with justice.
3. the moral principle determining just conduct.
4. conformity to this principle, as manifested in conduct; just conduct, dealing, or treatment.
All that is left is definition five:
5. the administering of deserved punishment or reward, decided by mob rule.
Which is
Summary Justice
the trial and punishment of suspected offenders without recourse to a more formal and protracted trial (for example a jury trial) under the legal system. It is also a term sometimes used to describe or justify vigilantism, (aka assassination.)
Poor Old Plato! His "Republic" is now toilet paper!
The only way for humanity to advance is to put evil on trial.
"Another ruthless dictator being brought to justice should serve as a message to tyrants everywhere: Government must be accountable to its people," said Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., in a statement.

Afterword:
There are dozens of videos-by-phone of the killing of Gaddafi.. and hundreds of reports of the voice on these videos saying, "Keep him alive!" That was the voice of civilization, preserved for history.
And today, four days after the killing there is this:
Mustafa Abdel-Jalil, head of the ruling national transitional council (NTC), said a committee had been set up to look into the circumstances of the deaths of Gaddafi and his son Mutassim in Sirte, the scene of the regime's last defiant stand. He said Libyans would have preferred to see the deposed leader stand trial and be held accountable for his crimes.
